Team Building Through Community Service
Swinerton volunteers in South San Francisco formed a partnership with Samaritan House San Mateo last year during the Fall Giving Challenge. This year, the group asked The Swinerton Foundation to donate $2,500 to the organization to support their children’s clothing program and their capital improvement project for their Redwood City location. On June 2, volunteers arrived at Samaritan House to spruce up the lobby with a fresh coat of paint. The facilities manager was thrilled to have the help! The organization was so thankful for the support that they even wrote a short article about Swinerton’s service. Read it here.

In Our Communities April was a busy month for Swinerton volunteers who participated in Rebuilding Together and Habitat for Humanity projects nationwide as part of The Swinerton Foundation’s Community Building Program. The Program matches volunteers with local non-profits who provide assistance to community members in desperate need of home repairs. Through the Community Building Program, The Swinerton […]
Portland Volunteers Serve Up Hope for Homeless Youth
April may have been one of the rainiest months on record for Portland, but it didn’t put a damper on our volunteers’ efforts!
Several Swinerton volunteers kicked off the month of April by volunteering at New Avenues for Youth’s 7th annual Scoop-A-Thon on Tuesday, April 4. The Scoop-A-Thon happens once a year on Ben & Jerry’s National Free Cone Day at New Avenues’ two PartnerShop locations.
As an event sponsor, volunteers got to get behind the counter and scoop ice cream for an hour with New Avenues’ employed youth. This year’s goal was to raise $50,000 for job-training programs through donations and sponsorships. With The Swinerton Foundation’s help, New Avenues nearly hit their goal, raising $49,152.
New Avenues for Youth takes a complete approach to addressing youth homelessness and its root causes, delivering support and resources that enable foster, at-risk, and homeless youth aged 14-24 to overcome their barriers and realize their potential.
Thank you to the Portland team who volunteered their time for this worthy cause!
Fundraising Drive for Angelman Syndrome Foundation
The Swinerton Foundation, along with Swinerton employees in Sacramento, kicked off a fundraising campaign for a cause close to their hearts with a fun St. Patrick’s day lunch at the office.
The lunch signals the start of eight weeks of fundraising for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF), a cause that came to the attention of the office after Elizabeth Miller, the daughter of Swinerton Senior Project Engineer Jason Miller and his wife Carly, was recently diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects one in every 12,000 to 20,000 people.
