The Swinerton Foundation has been a dedicated partner to Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center for many years, supporting its mission to improve the bodies, minds, and spirits of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapies and activities. On September 23, 35 Swinerton volunteers teamed up with Salesforce and Ski’s Painting to provide much-needed repair work to Little Bit in Redmond, Washington.

On May 5, Giving Tuesday Now will officially begin. This global movement of giving and unity is an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
For one day only, The Swinerton Foundation will double its match for all donations made to eligible charities in Swinerton Cares. That means for every dollar an employee donates, the Foundation will donate two.

Thank you for your generosity on Giving Tuesday Now. Donations made to eligible charities through Swinerton Cares on May 5 received a 2:1 match and The Swinerton Foundation extended this match opportunity for another day on May 7. Results are as follows:
Total donated by employees: $52,610.30
Foundation match: $98,835.20
Dollars for Doers Rewards donated: $6,544.50
Grand total: an impressive $157,990!

The Swinerton Foundation is committed to the health and safety of our volunteers and communities. We have been closely monitoring the CDC’s recommended guidelines and local and state government mandates as it pertains to COVID-19. To do our part to flatten the curve, the Board of Directors has chosen to postpone or cancel some of our events. The Board will continue to monitor the situation and make additional changes, if needed.
The Swinerton Foundation is partnering with long-standing national partner the American Red Cross to donate $63,000 for the nonprofit’s efforts on the front lines of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. To support the American Red Cross’s mission to ensure there is a sufficient supply of blood to help patients in need and so that they may continue to provide critical relief services to people affected by disasters, the Foundation is donating $50,000 toward disaster relief and $13,000 for blood services.
The Swinerton Foundation announced a $170,000 commitment on March 26 to support food banks on the front lines responding to COVID-19. The money will be distributed in a series of $10,000 grants to community food banks in 17 cities across the United States.
The organizations, though different, share an overarching goal: providing access to food for undeserved populations – a mission taking on even greater urgency in response to the novel coronavirus.
Already this year, nearly 5,000 wildfires have scorched almost 1,500 square miles across the state, an area about the size of Rhode Island. The Ranch Fire in Mendocino, now the largest in California history, has destroyed 282,479 acres alone. The fires have taken almost a dozen lives and hundreds of homes and businesses. Even residents outside of the area are feeling the effects with smoke and carbon monoxide drifting all the way to the East Coast. By some estimates, the state is facing $17 billion in fire damages.
San Diego volunteers have been participating in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk for many years, but this year topped the rest! The team not only reached their goal to raise $50,000 for the organization, they surpassed it—making them the #2 fundraising company in San Diego and on the top 15 fundraising walker list in a ten state region. Ninety-four supporters came out in full force on September 16 in support of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
A supporter of the American Heart Association for many years, The Swinerton Foundation was able to donate $15,000 to the organization this year.
In Orange County and Los Angeles, dozens of volunteers lent a hand for Community Service Program (CSP) on September 30 to provide repairs to the Huntington Beach Youth Shelter. Volunteers arrived that day ready to get their hands dirty for a good cause—painting, fixing plumbing, organizing, cleaning, trimming trees, making repairs, and power washing for five hours. It was a day full of hard, but rewarding work, knowing that the repairs would improve the lives of children and teens in the local area.

Swinerton volunteers in South San Francisco formed a partnership with Samaritan House San Mateo last year during the Fall Giving Challenge. This year, the group asked The Swinerton Foundation to donate $2,500 to the organization to support their children’s clothing program and their capital improvement project for their Redwood City location. On June 2, volunteers arrived at Samaritan House to spruce up the lobby with a fresh coat of paint. The facilities manager was thrilled to have the help!
